So You Think You Can Dance, Rockstar Supernova, The One, America’s Got Talent All in One Night

Written by: John

If you are like I and have been watching way too much reality TV you would have noticed that last night all of the following shows were aired: So You Think You Can Dance, Rockstar Supernova, The One – Making a Music Star, and America’s Got Talent.

I think each of these on its own would be quite entertaining shows I wonder why Monday nights are so boring as far as shows go and last night was so chock full of shows. Saturday night is another boring night. At least they could replay these shows so we could see the ones we missed. However, I think reality shows just aren’t as good when they aren’t live.

Well, regardless I had to pick my order of channel flipping amongst all the reality shows and so here’s the order of shows that I liked with a little review:
So You Think You Can Dance – This is by far the best of the reality shows. You can see many of my previous posts on So You Think You Can Dance

America’s Got Talent – Taylor Ware and The Millers harmonic is still my favorite after 3 semifinals. However, I think that rappin’ granny is one of the funniest. Although I think rapping granny should have been a people’s choice and not the judge’s choice.

The One – Making a Music Star – This is a pretty decent show. It seems like there is a little too much drama and I’m not that excited about the judges. However, I think the performances are interesting and they do a good job keeping the suspense interesting.

Rockstar Supernova – You can see my review of Rockstar Supernova

Well, I’m not sure if this blog is going to become a reality blog mixed with a bunch of technology, but I kind of like how my blog ebbs and flow according to what interests me at the moment. I’m still not sure why more people haven’t commented on my site.

I guess everyone agrees with my opinions.

Rockstar Supernova – Phil Ritchie Gets Sent Home for Committment

Written by: John

I must admit that this is my first and possibly last post for Rockstar Supernova. It just wasn’t that exciting of a show. I liked the idea that you are trying to make a band and that the band decides who they like. However, I think they need a new executive producer. Not to mention CBS needs to get them a better website. It takes 6 years to load. I can’t even link individual artists to their page since they are using so much flash.

In the end I thought it was a cool idea that Phil Ritchie got kicked off because of committment. Having america vote would never do something like that. However, having a band and thinking someone isn’t committed sure changes the way you look at things.

For those who missed the recap of the show here’s the list of rockers and songs:

1. Lukas Rossi sang ‘Bittersweet Symphony’

2. Zayra Alvarez sang ‘Call Me’

3. Dana Andrews sang ‘About A Girl’

4. Patrice Pike sang ‘Soul Remedy’

5. Toby Rand sang ‘White Wedding’

6. Magni sang ‘Heroes’

7. Ryan Star sang ‘I Alone’

8. Jill Gioia sang ‘Brown Sugar’

9. Phil Ritchie sang ‘One Headlight’

10. Dilana sang ‘Time After Time’

11. Josh Logan sang ‘No Rain’

12. Storm Large sang ‘Anything Anything’

Last Comic Standing Thoughts and Episodes Online

Written by: John

Last night I missed the episode of Last Comic Standing. I was a little dissappointed until I found full versions of the head to head performances online. That’s nice because the best part of the show is the comedy. Sure, some of the drama makes the comedy more interesting and entertaining, but the comedy is what really takes the cake. I think Last Comic Standing should take a queue from other reality TV and bring on some professional comics as guest acts. That would be even more entertaining.

I don’t really know why I watch the show, since Chris Porter is the best comedian on the show. However Josh Blue will probably get the sympathy vote. Sure Josh is very funny, but he isn’t nearly as good as Chris Porter. Chris has a refined style and his roast was like a seasoned pro.

I’m so glad that Roz“>Roz got kicked off the show because I was tired of hearing her SCREAMING!! She had some ok material, but the screaming got very tiring.

Now if they could just get the full episodes online so I can watch those when I miss the show then I’ll be happy. Until then I’ll have to just settle for the comedy routines they post on the website.

I was looking for last nights show recap and they just had episode 8’s recap which I’m including here since the website’s sucks at a quick recap:
Roz
Roz was the first comedian on stage for Last Comic Standing’s first voting show. She said it before and she said it again, “I don’t have jokes, I have problems.” From there, she delved into the world of fat jokes, white men, and the smell of Krispy Kreme donuts.

Ty Barnett
Up next was Ty and his surprise at finding out that his hometown of Chicago doesn’t have a great reputation. He also doesn’t understand everyone’s need to appear tough, and is baffled at how the government had no clue that Hurricane Katrina was coming.
Chris Porter
Oprah’s boot camp has helped Chris Porter lose over 1,000 pounds, but that’s beside the point. Chris riffed on the club scene, the difficulty of drinking and not smoking at the same time, and what it’s like at a Catholic Mass.
Josh Blue
In the fourth spot was “Paula Abdul’s neurosurgeon,” Josh Blue! Josh hopped across the stage to great applause only he didn’t have any material…just kidding. His act touched on the seductive art of the ménage a tois, Gabriel’s infamous phone calls, and people who are condescending to those with disabilities.

Michele Balin
Last, but certainly not least, was New Yorker Michele Balin who was impressed with her professional hair and makeup job. But not all was for laughs as she talked about depression in the news, and told a story about deciding to work on her tan rather than jumping off her roof.

4TV(4TV.com) Site Gets New Server to Stream Free Online TV(156 Channels) – Including Free HDTV Channels, ESPN, HBO, Movie Channels

Written by: John

Smuggle Me recently posted about “Free Online TV – Including Free HDTV Channels, ESPN, HBO, Movie Channels All Streamed Online” Pretty amazing that so many channels can be streamed on the internet. I’m leary of the legality of it all, but the technology is fantastic.

Digg also has a post about the 4TV.com Site Down During Move to Dedicated Server. Looks like they are finally ramping up. I agree that I am very leary of a service that doesn’t have a dedicated server from Day 1.

Windfall TV Show – What Would You Do With Millions?

Written by: John

I’ve been watching the TV show Windfall(http://www.nbc.com/Windfall/money_tracker/) lately and have really found the list of stories quite interesting. However, I think they’ve all taken the wrong course with their money. They are all acting like complete fools.

I’ll tell you what I’d do. I’d put the first $5 million in a very solid investment. I’d take the rest except for $1 million and put it in a higher risk set of investments. The last $1 million I would use to purchase a home and a few toys. From that point on I would not allow myself to spend anything except the interest earned by that money. I would continue doing my current IT job because I love what I do. I would stop working the 8-5 and definitely stop the grind of doing it every day. However, I would still do IT consulting so that I could do what I enjoy and help other people enjoy the benefits of IT. Any other money I made and interest would be enough for me to play to my hearts content while still being satisfied doing a fulfilling job.

Now, where’s my millions?
