It’s about time. The technology has been there forever, and it is about time they used it to get some of these obivous calls right. I realize they will still screw stuff up just like they do in football, but I am glad they are limiting it to home run calls. I just hope it doesn’t become like football where they take ten minutes to look at the video. Look at it a couple of times, and if it isn’t an obvious change, then leave the call as it stood and move on. Part of the reality of sports is that calls get missed. It just gives all the talk radio guys something to talk about for the rest of the week.

    • I have mixed feelings too, and that is why I am grateful it is only for home run calls. Balls and strikes is out of the question, but I think even looking at tags and other things would just be too much. A time limit is definitely a good idea. What i would like to see is using the video evidence to assess umpires performance and just make sure they consistent. I don't think they should be held to whether their balls and strikes are pinpoint accurate, because adjusting to an umpire's zone is part of the game.
    • I have mixed feelings about instant replay. I think they should set a time limit on looking and I'm really glad they aren't doing it for balls and strikes. Can you imagine how many times they'd want instant replay for balls and strikes?
