The Marching Elaine

Written by: Amy

Is there anything else that can really be said about last night’s episode of The Amazing Race besides “Team Dandrew are the worst team to ever run the race”? I dare you to watch this video and tell me any different. Actually, I dare you to watch this video only once. It’s almost impossible. Dan’s marching is so bad, it’s mesmerizing.

And even though they suck worse than any other team, they’re still in it because last night was a non-elimination round. Grrrrr.

Secret Millionaire on Fox

Written by: John

When watching Fox recently I saw a commercial for a new show called Secret Millionaire. I loved the idea. Basically, the send millionaires into poor communities where they meet as many people as possible and then reward one of them a pile of cash. If this is produced right, it will be really interesting and eye opening to hear the stories of the people they meet. I love people and so I love to hear their stories. Let’s hope it’s presented the right way.

Here’s a full description of the show’s premise:

SECRET MILLIONAIRE is a dramatic unscripted series that takes viewers out of their comfort zones and into the heart of America’s social issues.

Each week, one of the wealthiest Americans, worth millions of dollars, will go undercover into one of the most impoverished and dangerous towns in America. Their job is to spend one week canvassing the town – meeting as many people as possible – some of whom will touch the millionaire with their dedication to helping others while others will have incredible stories of trying to overcome tremendous odds. On the final day, the Secret Millionaire meets with the chosen recipients and reveals his/her true identity and intentions – to give them a sum of money that is going to change their lives forever.
SECRET MILLIONAIRE will engage viewers in important social issues, extol the virtues of volunteerism and change the lives of disadvantaged people – and the philanthropists who helped them – in unexpected ways.

Nigel Lythgoe Talks About New Dance Show Olympics

Written by: John

Check out this brief interview of Nigel Lythgoe where he talks about his new project. Nigel describes his new dance show as basically a dance Olympics with dancers from all over the world and judges from all over the world also. Judges would only get to score those dancers that weren’t from their country. Sounds like it could be really interesting or really lame depending on how well the show is produced. Plus, I hope Nigel spends enough time telling the back stories of the dancers since that’s just as interesting or more interesting than the judges talking about the scores. He’s mentioned something similar on So You Think You Can Dance before and I hope he sticks with that thought.

Check out the interview:

Its the most wonderful time, of the year…

Written by: David

So I must admit, this time of year is somewhat bitter sweet for me. There are so many great sports going on, and yet college football, one of my favorites, is almost over. Not that I get to watch very much, unless I am at work and it is slow, but I just love knowing that they are all going on.

Today alone I watched all or parts of 8 college football games, tried(unsuccessfully) to watch the MLS Western conference final (sorry RSL), and read about 4 different basketball games, college and pro. On top of that, the NFL is in full swing, and NHL is going as well. There are almost too many sports to cover right now.

Thank heavens for the internet. It is amazing how quickly you can find out results, stats, injuries, and a million other little facts. It also makes it possible to watch even more games, though most of the time the quality sucks. I just love sports so much.

The end of the college football season is nearing, and it is exciting as ever. I can hardly wait to see how it all pans out, especially which non-BCS team (or two?) will be crashing the party and prove once again how stupid the current system is. This truly is the most wonderful time of the year!

The Colorful Episode

Written by: Amy

There won’t be any real recap this week – I’m just going to post my thoughts on the happenings of the episode. I wasn’t able to watch the show on Sunday night this week, so I just watched it online on CBS.com. However, I already read a recap on Too Much Free Time, so I knew who was eliminated as I watched.

I think I need to do this every week; it was delicious watching how bitchy Christy & Kelly were being towards everyone knowing they were going to be eliminated at the end of the leg. Playing “Would You Rather” with Team Dandrew as the subject was pretty mean.

Nick & Starr were great sports on the Roadblock after getting pelted with paint. My respect for them has risen a great deal since the first few weeks. I also loved how Starr kept her cool as she looked for the clue. Dallas did the same, which wasn’t surprising.

Then there was Kelly. Let me just say this: “Ha!” Oh and, “Ha ha ha ha ha!” Man, those girls are dumb as rocks. I think they must have set some kind of Amazing Race record as the team who didn’t read the clue the most.

Terence got through the task without much drama and I thought maybe he had turned a new leaf. But, no. Turns out he was saving all his drama for his mama. The taxi ride to the next stop must have been torturous for Sarah.

Tina’s actions at the Roadblock kind of sucked – pushing the guys out of the way and yelling. I’m not sure I wouldn’t have reacted similarly, though.

Getting the clue for the Detour barefoot – why??? That was nasty.

No matter – CBS made up for the bare feet in the bird hospital by giving us ample shots of “The Package”. Atonement!

The Detour was a trip. Once again, Kelly & Christy and Team Dandrew put their idiocy on full display. Luckily for Dandrew, Ken & Tina told them how to complete the task just as Kelly & Christy figured it out on their own. Derrrr.

Next week – Team Dandrew have to be eliminated, right? These two gave Kelly & Christy a serious run for their money with the stupid.
