Stars Earn Stripes: NEW Celebrity Reality Show on NBC

While watching the Olympics, they were advertising a new reality competition show for celebrities: Stars Earn Stripes. According to the official NBC website:

Hosted by General Wesley Clark (retired) and Samantha Harris, “Stars Earn Stripes” is an action-packed competition show that pays homage to the men and women who serve in the U.S. Armed Forces and our first-responder services. The star-studded cast includes four-time undefeated world boxing champion Laila Ali, actor Dean Cain (“Out of Time,” Five Days of War”), actor and former National Football League player Terry Crews (“The Expendables 2,” “The Newsroom”), multi-platinum recording artist, actor, producer and television personality Nick Lachey (NBC’s “The Sing-Off”), Alaska businessman and four-time Iron Dog snowmobile race champion Todd Palin, NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” trainer Dolvett Quince, Olympic gold medalist Picabo Street, and WWE diva, Eve Torres.

In this fast-paced competition, the eight celebrities will gather at a remote training facility where they will be challenged to execute complicated missions inspired by real military exercises. From helicopter drops into water to long-range weapons fire, the contestants will be tested physically, mentally and emotionally. Each will be paired with a special operative from a military branch or one of our first-responder forces, including former U.S. Army Delta Force and Green Berets, U.S. Navy SEALS, U.S. Marines and police officers, who train alongside their partners and compete in the missions with them. Each of the teams is competing for a cash prize on behalf of a military, veterans or first-responder charity.

Committed to hiring recent vets on the crew, “Stars Earn Stripes” hopes to inspire other employers throughout the country to make similar commitments to our returning heroes to show audiences just how incredible these heroes’ missions really are. Dick Wolf (“Law & Order,” NBC’s “Law & Order: SVU”), Mark Burnett (NBC’s “The Voice,” “Survivor”) and David A. Hurwitz (“Fear Factor”) serve as executive producers. The series is a production of Universal Television, One Three Media, Wolf Reality, LLC and Bill’s Market & Television Productions.

What I find to be rather interesting is that there are two Dancing with the Stars veterans and one other whose brother will be on the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars: Samantha Harris (ex-host), Laila Ali (Season 3 contestant), Nick Lachey (Season 2’s Drew Lachey’s brother). Or they were or are involved with other NBC competition shows: Dolvett Quince (trainer of The Biggest Loser) and Nick Lachey (ex-host of Sing-off).

It would also appear that the contestants involved are those known to work out heavily and / or have partaken in sports in general. I am intrigued enough to give the premiere a courtesy look if I have time… but beyond that we’ll see.

My life can be summed up in the following two quotes: 1) "I am married to engineering and am its faithful wife by day, but at night my wanderlust takes hold and the arts becomes my jealous paramour." and... 2) "Engineering is my safety net. Writing is my passion. Acting is my escape when the other two become too much." So where does blogging fit in? Pretty much anywhere at this point... =) Though you may find me at either PureDWTS, PureSYTYCD or PureAmericasGotTalent at this point.

Dave “12 Pack” Amerman to fight Survivors Billy Garcia

Photobucket

Dave “12 Pack” Amerman from VH1’s I Love New York & I Love Money is best known for his fantastic body, despite his love for smoking and excessive drinking. Even though he didn’t get the girl on I Love New York and he didn’t win the $250,000 on I Love Money, he’s not letting that slow him down. Next month he will be joining Reality Rumble II to help raise money for the Special Needs Students at Spotswood High School in Penn Laird, Virginia. This event will feature many reality stars and known professional wrestlers.

Reality Rumble seems like a really unique opportunity to chill with some cool people from all over the country. And of course I can’t wait to whoop some a#@ in the Main Event Tag Match.

Dave “12 Pack” Amerman

The event will be hosted by Reality Rumble, a non-profit organization that combines Reality TV and Pro Wrestling, two of the most consistently highly rated programming genres in all of television. Their goal is to provide good old fashioned entertainment and raise money for charity. The best part is that all of the superstars involved will be available for Autograph and Meet-and-Greet sessions throughout the afternoon! This is a chance to show your love for your favorite reality stars.

ALL PROCEEDS from Reality Rumble II will be donated to the Special Needs Classroom at Spotswood High School. These funds will be used to purchase Adapted Tricycles for physical therapy and other learning devices to help the students in the classroom as well as Field-Trips for the Students. How cool is that!

Reality Rumble’s first event was so successful that the founders say they have been inundated with offers to put on events all over the country. They are actively recruiting Reality Personalities from Big Brother, Hell’s Kitchen, Top Chef, and numerous other programs from MTV, VH1, CMT, NBC, Bravo and CBS! I’ll keep you posted on where these events will take place.

Reality Rumble II’s main event will pit a wrestling team lead by 12 Pack against a team lead by Billy Garcia – Survivor: Cook Islands, the current Reality Rumble TV Champion. 12 Pack may have a ripped body but Garcia has size and in ring experience.

Here’s a video highlighting Billy Garcia’s appearance at the first Reality Rumble in April, 2008.

“REALITY RUMBLE II” will take place on Sunday, October 5th at Spotswood High School Sports Center/Gymnasium, 368 Blazer Drive, Penn Laird, Virginia 22846. Doors open at 2:00 pm. Ticket Prices are Ringside: $20.00 General Admission: $10.00. This is a Family Event. ALL AGES ARE WELCOME.

Reality Tv Stars – Where are they now? -The Miz

Appearing on a reality show does not guarantee success but for some it can make their dreams come true.

Take Mike “The Miz” Mizanin (from “Real World: Back to New York” 2001).

On the show he was probably the most carefree personality of the shows cast. It was during an episode of The Real World that Mike first displayed an alter ego known as “The Miz”. The Miz was angry, confrontational and headstrong. This new personality was interesting but somewhat annoying to his fellow cast mates. This would later lead to the fulfillment of a childhood dream.

Mizanin has always been a huge wrestling fan and in 2004 he was one of the final two contenders in the WWE’s fourth “Tough Enough” contest, which came with a $1 million, four-year contract. Though he lost, he did get the interest of WWE, and he was eventually offered a developmental contract. Mizanin was sent to Deep South Wrestling and in 2005, Mizanin defeated Mike Knox in the finals of a tournament to crown the first Deep South Heavyweight Champion. He moved on to Ohio Valley Wrestling in 2006 where he debuted as “The Miz”. Four months later WWE.com announced that he would serve as a “host” on SmackDown. Part of his duties included hosting a Diva search which he appeared to really enjoy (wink wink). By 2007, The Miz was drafted from SmackDown to ECW where he got his first taste of WWE gold as a tag team champion.

The future is looking bright for this infamous reality tv star.
