DWTS Julianne Hough To Executive Produce And Star In Fox Put Pilot ‘One Hit Wendy’

Give it up for Julianne Hough!! According to Variety, Julianne Hough will star in a new Fox comedy called “One Hit Wendy” with a put pilot order. Below are more details….

Julianne Hough is set to star in a single camera comedy with a put pilot order at Fox, Variety has learned.

Hough will star in “One Hit Wendy,” which follows Wendy, a one hit wonder who peaked at 18 as she tries to guide her talented niece, Jordan, through the music industry and keep her from making the same mistakes she did.

Should the project move forward, it would mark the latest series set within the music industry at Fox. The network currently airs “Empire” and “Star,” which are currently in their fourth and second season respectively.

Hough will also serve as an executive producer on the project in addition to starring. The project will be written by Lesley Wake Webster, who will also executive produce. David Katzenberg, Seth Grahame-Smith, and Diane Warren will also executive produce. Katzenberg and Grahame-Smith’s KatzSmith Productions will produce in association with 20th Century Fox Television. The project is the first set up under KatzSmith’s overall deal with 20th TV.

What a perfect part for her. I hope it’s a success. More at Variety. Thanks to Lori for the heads up.

Dancing With The Stars Erin Andrews Lands Position On Fox’s No. 1 NFL Team

Dancing With The Stars co-host Erin Andrews will be replacing Pam Oliver as the NFL sideline reporter for Fox’s No. 1 team according to Variety. What an interesting turn of events.

Erin Andrews will be replacing Pam Oliver as the NFL sideline reporter for Fox’s No. 1 team.

For her 20th season as a sideline reporter for Fox, Oliver will be part of the No. 2 team. After this season, she will discontinue reporting on the sidelines to work on other pieces and productions for Fox Sports as part of a multi-year contract, as well as continue her role on Showtime’s “60 Minutes Sports.”

Oliver told Sports Illustrated that the news was “a little shocking,” expressing her love for the job and her reluctance to change. However, she also stated that Andrews, a younger reporter, would be more ideal for the target demographic.

You can read the full article at Variety.

I’m kind of hoping this means Erin is leaving Dancing With The Stars. I want Brooke back.

Dmitry Chaplin Choreographing for So You Think You Can Dance Finale

I debated even reporting on this, given that I am done with SYTYCD now that it has become a bona fide popularity contest and that least skilled dancer this season is probably going to win (and just as I feared, both ballroom girls were cut back-to-back just before the finale), but alas, it’s not Dmitry’s fault and he is part of the DWTS family – so here it is.  🙂

Dmitry tweeted that he is going to be choreographing for the upcoming performance finale next Tuesday:

[blackbirdpie url=”https://twitter.com/dmitry_ch/status/243614535792066560″]

Can’t blame Dmitry for being nervous – seems like the ballroom routines this season have had about a 50/50 chance of getting ripped apart by the judges…so much for debunking the blatant anti-ballroom bias on that show.  Dmitry may also be having flashbacks to last season, when Nigel picked apart the cha-cha Mark choreographed for the performance finale. Let’s hope Nigel isn’t looking forward to a repeat “My show is better than DWTS!” pro-roast this time around…

Anywho, I found this little interesting Dmitry ditty while nosing around YouTube – it’s Dmitry talking about the cha-cha he choreographed for Cole & Anya a few weeks ago, and I think he pretty much hits the nail on the head when talking about non-ballroomers trying to learn ballroom:

Anywho, everybody cross your fingers for Dmitry that he doesn’t become the next victim of Nigel the Ballroom Meatgrinder next week.  I just find it funny that he seems to think his show has so much more street cred than DWTS, due to the many dance styles they portray and all the Emmy nominations they amass – yet his show has turned into a complete popularity contest, while DWTS at least maintains some degree of integrity by making the results 50% scores and 50% votes. Enjoy those Emmy noms, Nigel – because with your ratings hitting an all-time low this summer, this may be your last hurrah.
